Coleen Claire Barr Johnson

Coleen Claire Barr Johnson, 65, of Anacortes, passed away June 22, 2006, after a short battle with cancer, with her family and best friend at her side. Coleen was born in Hillsboro, Oregon on April 15, 1941 to Francis and Margaret (Doherty) Barr. She and her younger sister, Mary Margaret, were raised in Hillsboro and Medford Oregon. All of her younger life she was very active in singing. She was involved in every choir and play offered in her schools. It was very common for her and her sister to perform for her family and friends at family gatherings. Coleen worked as a court clerk in Medford and in Portland for many years and more recently she was employed at the Northern Lights Casino. She met and married Robert Johnson in Aptos, California on July 25, 1970. They lived in Lake Oswego, Oregon where they had two children, Jennifer and Jeffrey and lived many years in Lake Oswego. Many wonderful gatherings were held at their home on the lake, where her large family of cousins, relatives and friends would join in. In November of 1986 they moved to Anacortes, Washington where she became an advocate for getting the bonds passed to help the Anacortes schools and very active in the Booster Club at Anacortes High School. Coleen is survived by her husband, Bob Johnson, her daughter, Jenni Johnson Stahlecker and husband Chad Stahlecker, her son Jeff Johnson and the light of her life, her grandson Jackson Johnson Stahlecker. Her happiest moments were shared with him. Also surviving are her many cousins that she loved very much, her nephew Ryan Etzel and her niece Amy Etzel and her best friend since childhood, Elaine Meade and family from Boise, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her sister Mary Margaret Etzel, nephew Darin Etzel and her parents. A celebration of her life will be held at Fidalgo Bay RV Resort in Anacortes on Saturday, the 29th of July at 3:00pm. Memorials or remembrances can be made to the American Cancer Society, Hospice, or the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Arrangements are in the care of Evans Funeral Chapel and Crematory, Anacortes, WA.
