Ann Dursch passed away on July 20th after 95 full years of family, travel, and making the world a better place. She was born and raised in Summit, New Jersey, graduated from Drew University with a chemistry degree, and did graduate studies at University of Oregon.  In 1950 she married Bob Dursch and moved to Anacortes to begin a lifetime of raising a family, enjoying the Pacific Northwest, and serving the community.  She was well known for her love of nature and her desire for others to enjoy it with her and was an environmentalist well before that was popular.  She supported numerous local environmental and societal causes including being a founding member of the Skagit Land Trust and leading plant walks for the Native Plant Society.

She also loved books and volunteered at the library for many years.  Ann and Bob took students from Skagit Valley College on educational field trips, first around Washington State for the Science department and later to Europe.  Ann and Bob also skipper chartered their 44 foot sailboat for which Ann became one of the first women in the San Juan's to get a pilot's license.  After Bob's retirement they became snowbirds in Tucson and volunteered at the Saguaro National Park.

Ann is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years and is survived by her son Harry [Kirsten] of Bellevue; daughters Robin [Ross] of Brisbane, Australia and Gretchen [Steve] of Corvallis, Oregon; and grandchildren Michelle and Luke in Australia and Ana and Daniela in Oregon. She was very special and will be sorely missed by all that knew her. The family would like to thank her friends, Rosario Assisted Living, and Hospice Northwest for the care and support they provided. Memorials may be made in her name to Skagit Land Trust, Anacortes Family Center, or your charity of choice.  And please, in her honor, don't take short cuts when on the trail and do stop to look at the wildflowers … love you, mom.
