Anthony "Tony" Lowell Junkman, age 65, passed away in his home on October 15th, 2020 after a hard-fought battle with lung cancer. Four of his five daughters, as well as his sweetheart, were with him listening to Jackson Browne when he decided it was his time to ride free in heaven.

Tony was born October 27th, 1954 in Fort Dodge, Iowa, the son of Earl and Rose Junkman. He grew up in Manson, Iowa until he was 13 years old when he decided he wanted to travel and explore the country.  He traveled and worked in many states including Iowa, California, Colorado, Texas, and several others until he finally found the town he loved – Anacortes, Washington on Fidalgo Island. During his travels, he was a self- taught welder and learned how to read building plans. His skillset landed him a job at Dakota Creek Industries for 20 years before retiring in 2018. He very much enjoyed his job and all the lifelong friendships that he developed there.

Tony had a love for the blues and classic rock music. Some of his favorites were Stevie Ray Vaughn, Van Morrison, Bonnie Raitt, Jackson Browne, just to name a few. He taught himself how to play electric guitar and was a mean harmonica player as well. Tony also took up gardening at an early age, learned the ins and outs of having a green thumb and became a rose expert. On a warm sunny day, you could find Tony riding his Harley through the Cascades unless Nascar or Iowa Hawkeye Football was on the TV. Once retired, he learned how to kayak, enjoyed fishing with the grandkids and even went dancing a time or two.

Tony is preceded in death by his father, Earl Junkman. He will be deeply missed and survived by his mother, Rose (Neal) Junkman; his 4 siblings: Randy (Julie), Rick (Marian), Jaci and Kelley Junkman; his five daughters: Jodie (Andy) Warywoda, Shelby Greenlaw, Kylee (Jake) Cummings, Megan (Michael) Junkman, and Hannah (Tyler) Howell; and nine grandchildren: Evelyn, Mabel, Isabelle, Casen, Blake, Gage, Brok, Talen and Rowen; His sweetheart, Doreen Rogers and countless friends.

Tony's wishes were to be cremated and a private family gathering to spread his ashes throughout the San Juan Islands will be held in the near future.

Beloved Son, Father, Brother, Grandpa and Friend that will be forever missed and forever loved.
