Barbara Jean Nasman Folkestad, 78, passed away peacefully at her home in Bothell, WA, surrounded by her loving family on February 7, 2024.  Barbara was born in Everett, Washington, on May 14, 1945, to Irving Ernest and Josephine Cepernich Nasman and moved to Anacortes as a child.  She graduated from Anacortes High School in 1963 and received her bachelor's degree in history and English in 1967 from Western Washington University.  She taught middle school English and US History for many years and she and her husband, Gene, traveled the world in their retirement, having visited every continent. Barbara volunteered at local food banks, delivered food to the needy, and taught English to immigrant adults.  Barbara is survived by her loving husband, of over fifty years, Gene, her two sons, Andrew (Megan) and John (Summer), her adored grandchildren, Helena, Lucas, Rosie, Mia and Celine and her sister, Sharron Nasman Whitesel, plus many cousins, nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and sisters, JoAnne and Sandra Nasman Schulz.  A funeral Mass was held at St. Brendan Catholic Church in Bothell, Washington, where she was a member for over forty-five years.  Barbara was loved by her family and friends, and she was truly one of the most kindhearted people.
