B enjamin William Coleman, passed 11/23/2024 in Anacortes from complications of a brain tumor surrounded by his loving wife of 51 years, Suzy Coleman, Daughter Elizabeth Ann Dorris (Coleman), sons Eric and Matthew Coleman.  He was born in Long Beach California and moved to Anacortes Washington at age six.

Ben graduated from Anacortes High School and later graduated from Perry Technical Institute in 1972 studying Instrumentation.  Ben worked at Rocket Research in Bellevue Washington and then finished his career at Shell Oil Company working as a Network Engineer after years of being an Instrumentation Specialist and a Certified Electrician.

Ben married the love of his life Suzy Christenson where they settled in Anacortes for the remainder of their lives.  Ben coached his two sons in Basketball, Baseball and Football from early childhood until high school.  Ben was named Best Tackler and Blocker in high school football and played linebacker and half back for Anacortes High.  Ben was a scuba diver as well as fisherman/crabber before losing his arm at the age of 24.  With one arm Ben played men's league basketball, volleyball and was a bogey golfer.  Ben's oldest son Eric followed in his father's footsteps and graduated from Perry Technical Institute studying Instrumentation and Metrology.  Ben's daughter Elizabeth owned and ran a private business training and boarding dogs up until she had her two children Annabelle and Ellasan.  Ben's middle child Matthew also followed his father's later career path studying  Management Information Systems, graduating from Western Washington University.

Ben was known for his genuine smile and welcoming personality by all.  Ben was kind, compassionate and a loving husband and father.  When Ben married his wife, he became a Christian and devoted his life to Christ, studying the word of God nightly.  Ben and Suzy have been members of New Hope Christion Fellowship for 20 years.  Ben and Suzy became deacons/deaconesses at their church where Ben would also fill in and run the soundboard.  Ben loved wood working, astronomy, bird watching, and target shooting with his sons.  Ben devoted his free time to his family and friends and could not have been more supportive of those he loved and cared for.

Ben is preceded in death by his parents Bill and Virginia Coleman.  Ben is survived by his wife Suzy; children, Eric (Julie), Matthew (Jessica), and Elizabeth (Jim Dorris); granddaughters Annabelle and Ellasan Dorris; siblings: Dan (Kay), and Kathy (Don Munks), and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to New Hope Christian Fellowship and Cats Meow.  Special thanks to Ole (Debbie) Lindbo, New Hope Christian Fellowship and for the many prayers and cards received.

A celebration of life service will be held this spring at New Hope Christian Fellowship.
