Bernice Julia Farmer went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, surrounded by the love and comfort of her family. She now rests peacefully in God's eternal care.

Bernice was born in Center, North Dakota in 1936 to George and Mary Lang. She is lovingly remembered by her brother, George Lang; her son Brian Farmer, daughter-in-law Shelley Farmer; her daughter Jody Lynn, son-in-law Steve Lynn; grandchildren David and Anna Marie Farmer, Lisa Farmer, Jennifer and Ben Ketler, and Rachel Lynn; great-grandchildren Ava, Arlo, Frank, and Stacie, along with many cherished nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, David Rowe Farmer; her children Steven and Susan Farmer; granddaughter Stacie Farmer; and her siblings Darlene, Dorothy, Robert, and Norbert.

Bernice began her working life at Monroe Hospital, where she worked as an aide caring for elderly patients. She found great joy in helping others and showed the compassion and warmth that would define her throughout her life.

Bernice graduated proudly from Monroe High School in 1954. While attending Monroe High School, Bernice was honored by her classmates as High School Homecoming Queen, a reflection of her warmth, kindness, and vibrant spirit that drew people to her.  During her sophomore year, she met the love of her life, David Farmer. The two were married in Monroe, Washington in 1954 and soon began building a life and family together. By 1957, they had welcomed four children while Dave pursued his education and served in the Navy to support their growing household.

In 1961, Bernice and Dave purchased their first home in Kirkland, Washington, where Dave began his career with Boeing Commercial Airplane Company. Bernice treasured those years spent raising her children and later opening her home to grandchildren for countless overnight visits filled with warmth, laughter, and love.

Bernice and Dave treasured annual family camping trips in Eastern Washington to Sun Lakes State Park, Potholes Lakes, Lake Wapato and Lake Curlew, where they spent time camping, fishing, and enjoying the outdoors together with extended family. They also enjoyed many weeks of salmon fishing at Sekiu and Neah Bay Washington with the Hansen's, inviting family and friends, creating many memories of catching big salmon.  Over the years, Bernice especially enjoyed the family's progression from simple tent camping to traveling in a large motorhome, which became a gathering place for family fun and togetherness. She loved preparing meals in the motorhome and feeding all the kids after long days of adventure, creating memories that her family will always cherish.

Later in life, Bernice and Dave moved from Kirkland to Oak Harbor to be closer to family. There they enjoyed life in their waterfront home, creating treasured memories through fishing, crabbing, entertaining friends, and gathering family around the table for Bernice's home cooking. She especially loved the water views, family visits, and the joy of simply being together.

In 2012 Bernice and Dave moved to Chandler's Square in Anacortes to be closer to their daughter and nearby healthcare services. They deeply appreciated the kindness and compassionate support of the staff there, whom they considered part of their extended family.

Family was the center of Bernice's life and greatest joy. She loved time spent with siblings, her adult children, grandchildren, and friends. Her favorite activities in her later years included playing Yahtzee, sharing countless stories, and enjoying long conversations with those she loved. Known affectionately as "Grandma GG," she made every grandchild and great grandchild feel special—often with candy waiting in her kitchen drawer and unconditional love always close at hand.

Bernice will be remembered for her warmth, humor, generosity, and deep devotion to family. Her legacy lives on in the traditions, memories, and love she passed to each generation.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the caring staff at Chandler's Square and Hospice of the Northwest for their compassionate care and support during Bernice's final days.
