Betty Jean Hall, 87 of Orcas Island, WA, passed away on May 1, 2022 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Bellingham. She was born on October 20, 1935 in Deer Harbor; the daughter of Sherman and Lucille Thompson. Betty was a third generation homesteader on Orcas Island, and member of the Blackinton Clan of the Samish Indian Nation. Betty attended school in Eastsound and college in Seattle. It was there she met the love of her life, Frank Hall. They married at her parent's residence and made their home in Deer Harbor, WA soon after. In 1962 , the Halls moved to the northeast end of Turtleback, Mountain on Orcas Island. Betty followed in her mother's footstep by working for the USPS in Eastsound, retiring in 1996. She then worked at Island Hardware and Supply until her passing. Her favorite pastimes included, playing cards and quilting. As an avid quilter, she also spent time teaching and helping anyone to quilt, sharing her quilt work to anyone interested and participated in exhibits in the community. She is predeceased by her parents, her brother Jimmy and her husband. Betty is survived by her children: David and Donna and brother Cliff.
