Jeffus

Anchorage
The information for the livestream of Carol's service is listed at the bottom of her obituary.
Carol was the only child of Alvin and Clara (Longenecker) Juedes; born on September 13, 1932 in Milwaukee, WI. After graduating from Carroll College, Waukesha, WI with a degree in chemistry she bought a one-way ticket to Fairbanks, Alaska. She was running away from the expectations of women of the 1950's and running to adventures in the Last Frontier. She attended graduate school at the Geo-Physical Institute at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks to study the aurora borealis. There she met her future husband Arnol (Arnie) Echols. She completed a Master's in mathematics. During her graduate studies one of her favorite adventures was a trip to Chile to study noctilucent clouds (very high-altitude clouds). There she was invited to fly with the Chilean Air Force and made several flights south to Antarctica and Punta Arenas.
Her flying career began in 1960 when she earned her Private's Pilot license. After earning her pilot's license, she embraced aviation and never looked back. She met her second husband Don Jeffus during her early flying years. She was a bush pilot flying out of Fairbanks and Petersburg early in her career. She worked for numerous airlines during her career including: Interior Airlines, Alaska International Airlines and Mark Air. The last twenty-three years she worked for Lynden Air Cargo. She worked in various positions including a dispatcher, crew scheduler and flight engineer. Carol was the first female Flight Engineer on the Hercules C-130. She enjoyed flying all over the world.
She was passionate about dogs. She bred and raised World Champion Labrador Retrievers. But her enduring love was of wolves, Malamutes and Siberian Huskies.
She is survived by her only child Kathryn (Everett) Clary; her grandson Raymond Saft (Lisa Weinfurter) and their son, Oliver Saft. Her step-grandchildren include Everett T Clary, Sandra (Clary) Fusco and Phillip Clary.
Memorials may be made in her name to the Alaska Aviation Museum or Hospice of the Northwest .
