Carole Penick

Carole Annette Maureen Penick (Tucker), aged 86, passed away peacefully in her home with family by her side on July 8, 2026, in Anacortes, Washington. Born on December 24, 1939, in Cambridge, England, to Gladys Clements and Joseph Tucker, Carole brought warmth and light into the lives of everyone she encountered.

Carole is survived by her sister, Yvonne Lightel; Her children Steve (Jody) Penick, Darren (April) Penick, Angela (Terry) Hering; and Mike Smolsnik.

Grandchildren: Raschelle, Lynn, Lauren (Travis), Amber (Matt), Falon (Eli), Brett (Angela), Brandon (Amanda), Jason (Jessie), Mitchell, Trevor (Malayna), Brandon K., Maddie (Ryan), and Shelby.

Great-grandchildren: Avery, Greyson, Kynlee, Silas, Gabrielle, Caden, Abel, Gracie, Matthew, Cheyanne, Presley, Drew, Grahm, Adelia, Noah, Lukas, Makenzie, Gage, Ryland, and Sawyer.

Great-great-grandchildren: Ashley and Bowen.

And her devoted companion; Daisy, who remained faithfully by her side until the very end.

Carole was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Duddley; her daughter, Roberta Smolsnik; her brothers, David Tucker and Brian Tucker; and her granddaughter, Destiny Hering.

Carole was the true heart of her family—a loving, compassionate, and selfless woman whose kindness touched all who had the privilege of knowing her. She lived her life with a generous heart and an unwavering devotion to those she loved. To know Carole was to feel entirely welcomed; her "open door" policy for life made her affectionately known as "Grandma" or "Nana" to everyone. Her home was a sanctuary of love and comfort, where all were greeted with open arms and a warm smile.

One of Carole's sweetest companions was her beloved dog, Daisy. The two shared a special bond, and Daisy was rarely far from her side. Whether following her from room to room, resting beside her, or simply keeping her company, Daisy brought comfort, joy, and laughter to Carole's days. The love they shared was a reflection of Carole's nurturing heart—she cared for Daisy with the same gentleness and devotion she showed everyone in her life, and Daisy loved her just as faithfully in return.

Her ability to share her life, her heart, and her love so openly left an indelible mark on countless lives. The number of people who felt loved, heard, or cared for by Carole is immeasurable—a testament to the extraordinary person she was. She filled every room with grace, love, and her infectious laugh, offering comfort without hesitation and creating an atmosphere of joy wherever she went.

Her kindness, compassion, and steadfast devotion will forever be remembered and cherished. Carole will be deeply missed but always loved and celebrated by those whose lives she touched so profoundly.
