Catherine M. Foss, a lifelong resident of Anacortes, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2025, in the presence of her family and friends at the age of 102. Born on November 25, 1922, to Frank and Clara (Gugich) Barcott, she was the fourth of five children. Catherine was a cherished member of the Anacortes community, proud of her Croatian heritage, a devoted lifelong Catholic, and a loving wife, stepmother, and aunt.

Catherine, a proud descendent of Croatian immigrants, was a charter member of the American Croatian Club of Anacortes where she celebrated her culture through dance and food.  Known for her grace and elegance, she performed in traditional ethnic costume and played a pivotal role in founding the Vela Luka Dance Ensemble.  She loved sharing her heritage and often recounted stories of growing up in the predominantly Croatian neighborhood on 15th Street. She worked for Puget Sound Energy until retirement.

Catherine was married to Neil Foss for 47 years until his passing on March 7, 2014. They enjoyed fishing, cruising the San Juan Islands, entertaining, traveling, and spending time in California and Arizona.

Catherine was passionate about her faith and family. A dedicated member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Anacortes, she attended daily mass and volunteered with the Altar Guild, Rummage Sales, Funeral Luncheon Committee, Money Counting, and various church events. Her selfless service impacted many lives.  She loved her family dearly and enjoyed their visits and phone calls.  She also enjoyed the visits of her church friends and those of her condo residents.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Clara Barcott; husband, Neil; stepdaughter, Lori Foss; and siblings, Mary McDonald, Frank Barcott, Fran Svornich, and Edward Barcott. She is survived by her stepdaughter, Barbara Erickson; step-grandsons, Kevin Erickson and Jesse (Jennifer) Erickson; step-great-granddaughters, Sabrina and Savannah; nephews, David Barcott, Frank (Dena) Barcott, Mike McDonald; niece, Kathy Stiller, and numerous great nephews and nieces.

The family extends their gratitude to Lydia Barcott, Jim and Jenny Toland, and the Maria Petrish family for their love and care of Catherine.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Croatian Club of Anacortes, located at 1202 7th Street, Anacortes, WA 98221.
