It is with great sadness the Trafton family shares the passing of Charles Henry Trafton, 89, on December 21, 2022 peacefully at his home in Anacortes, WA surrounded by his family.  Charles was born in Anacortes on November 30,1933, the son of Henry and Ruth Trafton and brother of Valerie Trafton.  He was raised in Anacortes where he attended primary school at the Rosario School House and attended Anacortes High School where he graduated in 1951. While at Anacortes High School, Charles met Inez Lassus, the love of his life, at the local roller rink, and Charles and Inez were married on October 29th, 1955.  Together they raised a daughter, Debbie, and son, Michael, in Bellevue, WA and eventually back in Anacortes, WA on their family property near Trafton Lake.

A man of both the land and the sea, Charles spent a meaningful career as a commercial fisherman, a carpenter, and a farmer.  He cherished every moment he spent fishing the Puget Sound and Kodiak, Alaska, building homes, tending to his land, and caring for animals.  His love of fishing and farming connected him to the land and the sea, and to his family, to whom he has passed on countless valuable life lessons, skills, and stories.

Charles was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, neighbor, and friend to many.  He will be remembered and missed for his wry humor and stubborn yet tender sensibility.

Charles is predeceased by his parents and sister, his wife Inez Trafton (d. 2000), and wife Gloria Trafton (d. 2022).  He is survived by his daughter Debbie and her husband John, his son, Michael and his wife Kim, and their families including six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren - Lindsay (Paul, Kentlee), Morgan (Justin, Mallory), Shannon (Larry), Bryan, Brianna, and Blake (Sierra).

A memorial in his honor is being planned for Saturday, January 14th, at 2:00 pm, at Anacortes Lutheran Church.
