Clarena M. McLachlan went home to be with her Lord on March 21, 2010. She was born on February 19, 1925 to Lloyd and May Fenton.

Clarena graduated from Arlington High School in 1943, attended Everett Business College, University of Washington, and Western Washington College of Education in Bellingham, where she graduated from in 1950. She worked for the Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, the Civil Aeronautics Administration and then taught school in Auburn, Kent, and Lakewood, (north of Marysville).

Clarena married Calvin McLachlan in 1950. They lived one year in Marysville and moved to Anacortes for 32 years before retiring and moving to Deer Harbor on Orcas Island where the McLachlan family homesteaded in 1882. She was active in the Orcas Island Community Church, the Senior Center, and the Deer Harbor Community Club and the Auxilliary.

Clarena is survived by her beloved husband of almost 60 years, Calvin W. McLachlan; her three daughters and their families, Cheryl McLachlan, Mary and Ralph Carr, and Jill and Dennis Standeford; and one granddaughter, Janelle.

A private family interment was held. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, April 24, 2010 at the Orcas Island Community Church.
