Coleen Anne McDermott, 70, of Anacortes, passed peacefully at her residence on Friday, May 27 ^th with her loving family by her side.   Born in 1951 to Margaret & Leo 'Micky' McDermott, their third child was destined to be the center of attention and the life of the party.  Coleen graduated from Bellevue High School in 1970 with a love for sewing and crafting.  Throughout her life, this skill supported her and her family.

Coleen held many jobs, throughout her life working for Boeing, Kwuntung Country Restaurant and the Riverview School District. She moved to Carnation in 1982 where she raised her only child, Megan and fostered many lifelong friendships.  Coleen served on the City Council and was Mayor Pro Tem for a brief period.  She had a passion for gardening, working in her yard and took delight riding her bike in checking out her neighbors' yards. Coleen was blessed with many friends, young and old whom she treasured.  She was a key member of her community through the school district.

Coleen spent her last years living in Anacortes with her daughter, Megan and her grand daughter Layla. Coleen always insisted that she get the last 'I love you' in and enjoyed listening to Layla's singing.

Coleen is preceded in death by parents, her sister Kathleen and brother Michael.  She is survived by her daughter Megan McDermott (Wylie); grandchildren: Ashley, Layla and Mark; her two sisters: LeeAnne and Susan and nephews, nieces as well grand and great ones.  Coleen will laid to rest at Grand View Cemetery in Anacortes at 11 am, Saturday, June 11, 2022, with a reception following at Evans Funeral Chapel at Noon.
