It is with deep sadness, we announce the passing of Cory Len Campbell, who left us far too soon at the age of 50 years old.  Born in Bellingham, WA and raised in Anacortes, Cory carved out a life full of love, laughter, hard work, and dedication to others.

Throughout his life, Cory Len Campbell embodied resilience and generosity, leaving an indelible mark on everyone fortunate enough to cross his path. Whether it was through his career achievements, his boundless humor, or his fierce loyalty to those he held close, Cory carried himself with a rare authenticity that inspired all who knew him. His legacy, rooted deeply in compassion, courage, and devotion, serves as a reminder that the most extraordinary lives are often built on the simplest yet most profound values: love, laughter, and kindness.

Cory rose through the ranks with determination and grit, ultimately serving as a Battalion Chief at BP Cherry Point Refinery, where his leadership and courage were admired by many. He was proud to share his knowledge as an instructor at Texas A&M, and deeply valued his role as a member of the Cherry Point Rescue Team.

Though he had no formal education, Cory was a natural teacher, a steadfast leader, and a fierce protector— a person that would stand up for those who couldn't stand up for themselves, and face the consequences later. He was known for his supreme kindness, an infectious sense of humor, and a legendary mustache that matched his larger-than-life personality. He also carried an unwavering conviction to stand up for what he knew was right, no matter the cost.

A man of many passions, Cory was an accomplished woodworker, an avid hunter and fisherman, and a lover of Mexico, tacos (always tacos), and time spent with family. He also had a well-known love for setting things on fire—safely and professionally, of course. His ability to tell a joke—often at just the right moment—brought laughter and light to countless lives. Cory never met a stranger—he had an open heart and an easy way of connecting with everyone he encountered.

Cory was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who cherished his family above all else. He is survived by his beloved wife of 28 years, Maria Campbell; his cherished daughter Bessi Robar Lacy and her husband Troy; and his treasured granddaughter Juniper Lacy, who brought him immense joy. He is also survived by his loving parents Christine and Tim O'Leary, and Earl Campbell; his brother William Campbell and sister-in-law Angela Campbell; niece Megan Campbell Jakobe (Chad); nephew Sean Campbell; niece Olivia Rex (Justin & family); and a wide circle of friends who have become family, and have shown up in ways he could never imagine.

A celebration of Cory's life will be held on his birthday, June 13, 2025, at 3:30 PM, at the Rome Grange Community Center (2821 Mt. Baker Hwy, Bellingham, WA 98226). All who knew and loved him are welcome to join us as we remember a man who made our world brighter, more exciting, and a lot more fun.
