Dana Drew George, 72, of Anacortes, Washington, passed away peacefully at home on May 25, 2026. Born on August 13, 1953, in Conrad, Montana, Dana spent nearly his entire life in Anacortes, where he moved as a young child and quickly became a familiar and beloved presence in the community.

Dana attended Skagit Valley College, earning an Associate of Arts degree, and went on to build a long and fulfilling career in information technology. He worked for Providence Hospital in Everett and was fortunate to have been retired for 25 years.

On March 20, 1976, Dana married the love of his life, Susan Jane George, whom he met at Deception Pass Park. Together they built a life rooted in love, laughter, and shared adventure, raising three sons and creating a home that welcomed family, friends, and even countless rescued animals.

Dana lived a full and vibrant life shaped by curiosity, creativity, and a deep sense of community. He was an active member of the Lions Club from 1990 to 1994 and served as its president in 1993. His many passions included racing Mini Sprints at Deming Speedway in the 1980s, working on model trains, exploring personal computing, photography, and restoring muscle cars. Dana was often recognized cruising around in his purple corvette.

A lifelong music lover, Dana attended countless concerts and especially cherished classic rock. He was a strong believer in democracy and civic engagement, participating in local causes including community advocacy groups in Anacortes.

Dana’s hands were rarely still—he had a natural gift for tinkering and could fix or build just about anything, from motorcycles and sports cars to home projects. He and Susan spent over 30 years camping along the Skagit River, creating cherished memories surrounded by nature.

Known for his openness and warmth, Dana welcomed everyone and continually strived to grow as an informed and supportive ally to others. He had a remarkable sense of humor and was a gifted storyteller, always ready to share tales of his youth and adventures that brought laughter to those around him.

Dana and Susan shared a deep love for animals, caring for many dogs and cats over the years, as well as tending to birds and wildlife that frequented their home. Their property, affectionately known as “420 View Place,” became a sanctuary they lovingly cultivated into a certified backyard wildlife habitat.

Above all, Dana was devoted to his family. He took immense pride in his sons and grandsons and never missed an opportunity to speak about them with joy and admiration. His greatest accomplishment, he often said, was finding Susan, building a life together, and raising a close-knit, loving family.

Dana is survived by his wife, Susan, and their three sons: Ryan Joseph George (Kelly), Corey Lynn George (Jilian), and Jeremy Robert George (Anna), all of Anacortes. He was a proud grandfather to Gavon Leo Long of Los Angeles, California, and Finnegan Dean George and Archer Drew George of Anacortes. He is also survived by his brother, Lance George (Becky) of Sedro-Woolley, Washington. He was preceded in death by his sister, Robin Browning, and his parents, Jerry T. George and Jerry E. George.

Dana will be remembered for his kindness, humor, generosity, and the lasting impact he made on those fortunate enough to know him.
