Daniel Arthur Renninger passed away peacefully at home in the presence of his family on June 20, 2021. Born in Seattle, WA, and raised in Tiffin, OH, Dan joined the U.S. Navy upon graduation from high school.

Dan met his future wife, Victoria Georgina "Jean" Pelley, on a blind date while he was stationed in Argentia, Newfoundland, Canada, and the two were married in 1961. Five children followed.

Originally serving as a metalsmith in the Navy, with both shore duty and sea duty, Dan later switched to aviation support of the Carrier Onboard Delivery program, and finally, to aircraft hydraulic maintenance. Dan spent several back-to-back, extended tours of Vietnam aboard the U.S.S. Oriskany in the 1970s. Dan vividly recalled being aboard the Oriskany when the Peace Accord was signed in Paris and POWs from Vietnam were released.

Upon retiring from the Navy, Dan moved the family to Oak Harbor, WA. During the 1980s Dan worked as a carpenter for Bodin Construction. He was a past member of the local Lion's Club and the American Legion. In retirement, he enjoyed camping on property along the Skagit River, recreational fishing, spending time with grandchildren, and traveling to Newfoundland in the summer seasons.

Dan was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Lee Renninger, his son, Daniel Arthur Renninger, II, and his grandson, Daniel Arthur Renninger III. He is survived by his wife, Jean Renninger, his son, Barry Renninger (Laura), daughter, Darlene Mund (Joseph), son Phillip, daughter-in-law, Lisa Renninger, as well as grandchildren, Matthew Renninger (Karlee), Andrew Renninger, Kyle Renninger, Emilie Renninger, Brenda Renninger, Zachary Renninger, Sage Renninger, Dylan Renninger, Avalon Renninger, and great-grandchildren, Harmon Renninger and Woodes Renninger.

Per Dan's request, no services will be held. Donations in memory of Dan may be directed to SeattleChildrens.org .
