David Robert Luecke, 82, of Anacortes passed away on July 1, 2025.  He was born in Freeport, Illinois, and moved to Manhattan Beach, California as a young boy. The middle child of three, he was known within his family for his mischievous spirit and playful nature.

David attended American Martyrs School and later graduated from Mira Costa high school.  It was during those early years that he met his high school sweetheart, Donna.  The two married and went on to raise six children together, building a life grounded in love, faith and family.

A devout Catholic, David dedicated part of his life to missionary work in Prince George British Columbia.  His deep commitment to his faith shaped his character and left a lasting impact on those he served.

After returning from Canada, David enjoyed a long and successful career in computer sales.  He was known not only for his professional skill, but for the kindness, humor and authenticity he brought to every interaction.

In 1989, David was set up on a blind date by his son – an unexpected meeting that turned into the great love of his life, Diane.  Together they shared a life of adventure and travel, enjoying skiing, biking, hiking, golfing and tennis. In Diane, David found not only a partner in life's adventures, but also a companion in faith.  Their shared devotion to God deepened throughout their years together, and his faith remained central to his life until the very end.

David was known for his love of a good argument and deep, spirited discussions.  Where he was, conversation followed – and often, laughter too.  His sharp wit and great sense of humor were trademarks, and it was common to hear his family exclaim "David!" or "Dad!" in response to one of his playful antics.

We could fill pages with stories of the man he was – but David himself would have said, "None of that matters.  It's all about God."

He is deeply missed by his beloved wife Diane, his children: Carrie (Spencer), Cathleen (Phil), Amie (Jay), Robert (Christine), Anne (Marty), Therese (Nick) and his stepchildren: Laurie (Doug), Kristen (Ray) and Trisha (Bill).  He was a proud grandfather to 20 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Willie and Patti. He was preceded in death by his stepson, Greg.

Services for David will be held on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at St. Mary Church of Anacortes, beginning with a Rosary Recital at 10:30 a.m; Funeral Mass at 11:00 am with a Reception to follow. He will be laid to rest in a private family ceremony at Fernhill.
