David Joseph Morrison was born in Seattle, WA on November 9, 1947.  He died of Metastatic Melanoma at his home in Anacortes, WA on September 14, 2021.  He was 73 years of age.

Dave was the young son of I. E. "Morry" and Kathryn (Hilton) Morrison.  He joined his older siblings, Sara and Everette at the family home in the Madrona neighborhood of Seattle.

Dave attended St. Therese Elementary, St. Edwards Seminary (1961-1963) and was a graduate of O'Dea High School in 1965.

Dave's childhood summers were spent on the shores of Lake Washington at Madrona Beach, swimming and dreaming of the Hydroplane races which would start in the late summer. His favorite boat was U-27 "Slo-mo-Shun IV".

His love for sports continued on to his adult years, expanding to Seattle Seahawks, Seattle Storm, Seattle Sounders and Seattle Sonics, the latter of which he believed was stolen from Seattle.  Dave followed all PGA tournaments, following both men and women's golf.  But his favorite of all sports was baseball and he was a diehard fan of the Seattle Mariners.  Dave and his dad, Morry, made a memorable trip to the hometown of National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York.

After his graduation from O'Dea, Dave began his career in restaurant management.  In 1965, he began with Dick's in Seattle and managed several locations until 1967.  He then took up Volume Services, America Inc, a company  that offered food, beverage, merchandise, facility design, and management services for sports, convention, and entertainment venues.  Dave managed concessions at the Seattle Coliseum and Husky Stadium.  He loved working at the Coliseum as it enabled him to be at many musical concerts hosted at the Coliseum.  His special memories included being able to see the Beatles perform live, twice in a day, and catching Janis Joplin stealing popcorn!  Dave's time with Volume Services would take him to Kansas City, MO where he would manage the concessions for the Kansas City Royals' New Stadium.  New adventures in restaurant management included Tipton Golf and Country Club (IA), Andy's Diner (Seattle), Andy's Eugene Station (OR) and Wendy's of the Northwest.

In 1985, Dave noticed a woman working at the Clinton Ferry Dock.  He was living on Whidbey island  at the time, and  would  notice her as he drove off of the ferry daily.  He decided to introduce himself one day and used all his charms to pursue a relationship with her.

He was successful and they married shortly after. They moved to Anacortes in 1986, his bride's hometown, and made many friends there.  Dave and Debbie were very happily married for 35 years until his death.

In 1987 Dave decided on a different course.  He became a driver/sales employee for Gai's Northwest Bakery. Dave delivered for Gai's, soon to become FRANZ for 26 years.  The majority of his years were delivering to Orcas and Lopez Islands.  Dave made many lifelong friends in his time delivering to the San Juan Islands.  Dave retired from Franz Bakery in 2013.  Bored with retirement, Dave embarked on his "retirement job" at The Market in Anacortes in the produce department.  He would remark many times that it was his favorite job; how he loved greeting customers and being of help to them and creating new friends.  Dave was an employee of The Market until his death.

Dave Morrison was a gregarious, fun, funny, thoughtful, generous, inquisitive man.  He will always be missed by his family and friends. We all love you, Dave.

He is survived by his wife, Debbie Moore and their daughter Tillie (Steff Nielsen); his children of previous marriages: Michelle Leary (mother: Beverly Masar Borth) and Zachery Morrison (mother Anna Duff Morrison); grandchildren: Kayla Medlock, Sydney Leary, Conner Morrison, Ryder Morrison and Christoff Nielsen; sisters-in-law: Dionne Simons and Judy Moore (Bill Whittemore); brothers-in-law: Gib Moore (Sandy Heimgartner) and Ken (Freddi) Moore; nieces and nephews: Kim Back, Kent, Kirk and Ryan Moore, Bob and David Schinkel, Tammy, Raymond and Michael Morrison.  Lifelong friends: Dick Hurley, Roger Lippman and Carey Dennison.

Dave was predeceased by his parents, his sister and brother-in-law: Sara and George Schinkel, his brother Everette and two infant sons.

Sincere thanks to Dave's physicians, Dr Sylvia Lee and her staff at SCCA where Dave was treated for 2.5 years.  Dr. Les Conway and Dr. John Mathis, Fidalgo Medical.  UW Medical Center Montlake,  (Dave had a room overlooking the Montlake Cut!) and Hospice of the NW.  All of Dave's physicians have provided kind, compassionate, professional care, he loved every one of you. Thank you all.  Special thanks to Jodi Bray and all of Dave's co-workers at The Market of Anacortes, and of course all his customer-friends; Brad Kertis, beloved "extra" son, and Sharon Mudd of Island Market  Orcas Island.  He was beloved and loved by so many friends that are too numerous to mention here.  You know who you are and Dave's family thanks every one of you.

Private graveside service will be held.  A Celebration of David's life will be held in Spring of 2022.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Dave's name may be made to Friends of the Forest ACFL
