Delia Dennett
Roberts
Oct 8, 1931 — Jul 24, 2026
Delia “Dee” Roberts passed away on July 24, 2026, in Anacortes, Washington.
Dee was born on October 8, 1931, in White Plains, New York, to Louis Burton Dennett and Laura Beecher Hooks Dennett. Dee moved to Buenos Aires, Argentina, with her parents in 1936 when her father was appointed the executive manager of a DuPont textile mill there. She attended St. Hilda’s School for Girls in Hurlingham and then the American High School in Belgrano, graduating in 1949. The family returned to the United States and lived in Wilmington, Delaware. Dee then earned her associate degree at Bradford Junior College in Haverhill, Massachusetts, and completed the executive secretarial program at Katharine Gibbs Secretarial College in New York City, where she resided in the Barbizon Hotel.
On January 8, 1954, Dee married Carl Emerson “Em” Roberts of Cape Elizabeth, Maine. Em graduated from Bowdoin College and was employed by the DuPont company. They first lived in northern New Jersey, where their first daughter, Laura, and second daughter, Sally, were born. Continuing his employment with DuPont, the family then moved to Missouri and Michigan, and then on to Nashville, Tennessee, where their third child, a son, Carl Emerson “Rob”, was born. The family then moved to Mercer Island, Washington; Wilmington, Delaware; and then again to Mercer Island for a second time, followed by 24 years in Evergreen, Colorado. During their years in Washington and Colorado, Dee used her secretarial skills as an executive secretary in Seattle and as a travel agent in Colorado. After retirement, Dee and Em moved back to Washington in 2001, settling in Anacortes to be nearer their children and grandchildren.
Em passed away on March 9, 2017. Dee is survived by her daughter, Laura Beecher Aesoph (Jon) of Coupeville, Washington, and their son, Henry Aesoph, of Portland, Oregon; daughter, Sally Jewett Post of Anacortes, Washington, and her daughter, Chloe Hyde of Portland, Oregon; and son, Carl “Rob” Roberts (Melissa Larson) of Phoenix, Arizona, and his sons, Kyle Roberts of Seattle and Daniel Roberts of Redmond, Washington.
A private inurnment service will be held at Fern Hill Cemetery at a future date. Arrangements are in the care of Evans Funeral Chapel. Dee expressed many thanks to the Christ Episcopal Church community for their strong support of her and her family for over 25 years.
