Husband, father, grandpa, friend, Denny was known by all of those titles.  He loved and was well loved by many.  Dennis W. Jenkins was born in Portland, OR in 1938.

Most of his early years were spent in Portland.  In 1955 at the age 17 Denny joined the US Coast Guard.  In June 1957 he met Joanne, the love of his life.  They were married in October 1957 and had over 65 years together.  Within the next 4 years their family was complete with the births of Doug, Arlene and Karolyn.  Denny progressed from the US Coast Guard to active duty in Air Force and then to the Air National Guard for a combined total of 26 years of service.  Upon his military retirement he was employed by FEMA, for 10 years before retiring.

Denny always had a passion for missions, which eventually led to his facilitating and leading teams on work trips.  AMOS Health and Hope organization for public health and rural ministry in Nicaragua was one he contributed to greatly.

He loved his family and shared many adventures with them which included camping, fishing, boating, travels in other states and countries. He continued to share those adventures with his grandchildren creating lasting memories.  He and Joanne enjoyed many trips to Hawaii and spending time in Arizona during winter months.

It broke our hearts to lose him, but we know that he is no longer suffering from his chronic heart health condition.  Denny is now made whole by his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  He leaves behind his wife, his children, 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Time may pass and fade away, but memories of him will always stay.

In lieu of flowers the family has suggested memorial gifts to Denny's chosen charity the Amos Health and Hope where it will bear abundant fruit.
