Donald Samuel Padgett, 91, passed away at his home on Monday January 16th.  He was surrounded in his final days by his children and grandchildren and dear high school friend Reese Perkins.

Don was born on June 22, 1931, in Mount Vernon, Washington.  He was the second child of Walter and Wilma Padgett. He graduated from Anacortes High School and enlisted in the US Army.  He served his country from January 8th, 1951 to January 11th, 1955, during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Sergeant. He was married to Joyce Padgett in that same year.  He was survived by his children Joni Kistler, Mark Padgett, Jana Elmore and Tyler Padgett, as well as five grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Don worked for many years for the Anacortes Plywood mill and retired as member of the local Laborers' Union as a carpenter. He had a passion for fast cars and woodworking. In his meager woodshop, he created various toys for his children and furniture for his home. His wife, Joyce was an amazing artist and he crafted countless frames for her beautiful oil paintings. He loved to catch local Dungeness crab and clams and fish for perch on Heart Lake in Anacortes. He will be remembered for his spontaneous and sometimes "over the top" humor.

A Memorial Service is being planned to take place in the summer of 2023.  Please bookmark this direct link to his memorial site at Evans to check for updates: https://www.evanschapel.com/obituary/donald-padgett
