Donna Jean
Smith
May 9, 1942 — Mar 6, 2024
Anacortes
Donna Jean Smith, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully at 81. She was born to parents Lloyd and Ardis Bishop on May 9, 1942, in Sumas, WA. Donna graduated from Anacortes High School in 1960 and went on to become the Kitchen Manager at the 19th Hole Restaurant and Lounge, a family-owned establishment in Anacortes. She retired when she became a grandmother.
Donna was a loving and devoted wife to Carlton Jack Smith, fondly known as Jack, and a dedicated mother to her three grown children. She also loved her five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren with all her heart. Her favorite pastimes were many and varied, such as watching the Seattle Mariners play, bowling, sewing, crocheting, thrifting, gardening, feeding the hummingbirds, and participating in bunco and road trips. She cherished her time with family and friends, especially hosting holiday gatherings for them, not to mention her rendezvous with her coffee club.
Donna will be remembered for her kind and generous spirit, love for her family, and unwavering support for her favorite baseball team. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband of 63 years, Jack. Donna is survived by her children: Danny Smith (Jen), Teresa Melling (Kris), and Kim Janz (Jim); her grandchildren: Ashley Janz (Jamie), Tiffanie Abshier (Brendan), Brittany Ward (Seth), Kelsie Ramirez (Cole) and Kylie Stone (Alex); great-grandchildren: Brylie, Khloe, Emerie, Jackson, Hayden, Calihan, Ada, Maverick and Ozzy; and her sister Marilyn Sterba. Grandma Donna will be greatly missed.
A celebration of Donna's life will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, March 22, 2024, at Evans Funeral Chapel in Anacortes, with a reception following. In memory of Donna's love for the Seattle Mariners, feel free to wear your favorite Mariners' apparel to her memorial at Evans. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Donna's memory to your favorite Breast Cancer Awareness charity or to Soroptimist of Anacortes.
