Doris (Dorie) Marie Kohler, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully at her home on March 25th at the age of 92.

Dorie is survived by her husband of 69 years, Dick (Richard) Kohler and her two children Ron (Patti) Kohler, Laura Kohler (Roy Paton, Partner) and two grandchildren Ian (Steph) and Justin Kohler. She was preceded in death by her brother Lote (Bud) Mason of Salem, Oregon and her parents Roy Mason and Maybre (Mason) Rodgers.

Dorie was born in Candler, NC on 12-4-1932 to Roy and Maybre Mason. She resided in North Carolina until 1941 when the family relocated to Aberdeen, WA. Dorie graduated from Weatherwax high School in 1951, then attended Grays Harbor Community College where she received her AA.  She moved to Bellingham and attended Western Washington University with her BA in Education in 1955.

Dorie met Dick Kohler while attending Western Washington University, and they married in 1955. After Dick was released from the Navy and a brief time living in Bellingham they settled in Anacortes. There Dorie worked as an elementary school teacher and then later as a reading specialist for the Anacortes School District. It is here they raised their family. Doris retired from Anacortes School district in 1989. After retirement Dorie spent her time hunting Ellensburg blue agates in Ellensburg, reading, spending time with her grandchildren and enjoying life. Dorie was a member of Phi Betta Kappa, loved reading, hunting "blues" in Ellensburg, beachcombing on Orcas Island and a volunteering with the Soroptimist.

The family would like to thank the Anacortes Police Department, Anacortes Fire Department and Evans funeral home for their care and professionalism.
