With deep sadness, the Pedersen family announces the passing of Egil Johan Pedersen, a devoted husband and father, on Tuesday, August 1, 2023. Egil was 92 and had been a longtime resident of Anacortes, Washington.

He was born in Bergen, Norway, on April 1, 1931, the son of Maurits and Borghild (Johansen) Pedersen. Egil emigrated to the United States in 1949 and settled in Burien, Washington, with his maternal uncle and aunt, George and Laura Johansen, who were instrumental in his transition to the American way of life.

He acquired his Associate of Applied Science degree and procured employment as a Fire Protection Engineer with the Viking Sprinkler Company in Seattle. He worked with them for a span of 30 years, retiring at the age of 62. Egil and Inez met at a Norselander club dance and married in Seattle, Washington, on April 6, 1955. They had two children.

Egil and Inez raised their family in West Seattle. Shortly after his retirement, though, he and his wife moved to Anacortes (Skyline neighborhood), making it their retirement home for 28 years (1995 - 2023). Egil and Inez had a passion for traveling, which led them to embark on multiple cruises and enjoy boating experiences with their family on Puget Sound.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurits and Borghild Pedersen. Egil is survived by his wife of 68 years, Inez; his children: Mark (Lorraine) and Anita (Robert Carter); his siblings in Norway: Erling Andersen and his adult children: Merete Buchanan, Øyvind Anderson; his sister Berit Nesse and her daughter, Mona Nesse; as well as extended relatives PaulJohansen (Candace Davis); LaurieTeehan (Joe) and their two  children: Tommy and Ella, of Bellingham Washington; Steven Johansen of Oregon and Christy Kunch (Jack) of Limon, Colorado.
