Eldon Eugene Kutscher passed away on August 21, 2026, at HomePlace Special Care in Burlington, Washington. He was born on October 3, 1944, in Sedro-Woolley, the son of Joseph and Thelma (Blair) Kutscher. Eldon grew up in Sedro-Woolley, Washington, where he graduated from Sedro-Woolley High School in 1963. On December 1, 1972, he married the love of his life, Freddie Jean Kutscher. Together, they raised their three daughters in Sedro-Woolley, Washington.

Eldon worked for Fred Nelson Chevrolet in the autobody shop for many years, a natural fit for someone who loved working with his hands and had a lifelong interest in cars. He later worked for the Sedro-Woolley School District at Evergreen Elementary as a custodian until his retirement. While working for the district, he donated his time to working with the union (Public School Employees), and lobbied for better schools and working conditions for employees.

Eldon was happiest tinkering in his garage, working on cars, camping, and spending time with his family. He also had a well-known sweet tooth and especially loved ice cream and anything chocolate.

Those who knew Eldon will remember him as a kind, sweet, humble, and strong man—with a stubborn streak that was simply part of who he was. He was always willing to give his time, lend a hand, and quietly show his love through the things he did for others. He never needed recognition or attention; caring for the people he loved was simply part of his nature. His family was incredibly important to him, and he was proud of his daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Eldon is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Freddie Jean Kutscher of Burlington, Washington; his brother, Randy Kutscher of Bellingham, Washington; and his brothers-in-law, Rick Latham (Kathy) of Lakewood, California, and Steve Latham of Anacortes, Washington.

He is also survived by his three daughters, Cindi (Mark) Nunnelley of Inman, Kansas; Tina (Sean) Clark of Vancouver, Washington; and Kay (Robert) Stewart of Sedro-Woolley, Washington; his grandchildren, Arielle Toliver of Haysville, Kansas; Brett Curry of Winfield, Kansas; Brianna Hollada (John) of Vancouver, Washington; Spencer Clark of Seattle, Washington; Codey Ballenger of Burlington, Washington; Clay Ballenger of Burlington, Washington; and Kadie Ballenger of Sedro-Woolley, Washington; and his four great-grandchildren, Bailey, Gracie, Paxton, and Harrison.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Thelma (Blair) Kutscher.

The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at HomePlace Special Care and Skagit Hospice for the kindness, compassion, and care they provided to Eldon.

Eldon lived his life without asking for much but gave so much of himself to the people he loved. His quiet strength, generous heart, stubborn determination, and gentle nature will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family and all who knew him.
