On December 23, 2022, Evelyn Jean Treadwell passed away at home after a seven-month battle with cancer.  She fought cancer as hard as she fought anything, for that her friends and family are proud.

Evelyn was born August 4, 1946 in Shelby, MT and moved to Anacortes from Sweetgrass, MT in 1958 as part of the migration of families from that area to work at the Texaco refinery. In 1966 she married Glenn Treadwell, who preceded her in death five years ago.  Together they raised two children, Kevin and Brenda. Evelyn spent many of her adult years as a dedicated fisherman's wife, earning her FCC license to communicate over the waves to her husband in the Bering Sea and hosting other wives in her home to do the same.  She touched many lives and enjoyed special friendships with her co-workers at Island Hospital, where she was a housekeeper for twenty-nine years.  She loved her job, was proud of her work, and her work ethic was contagious.  Evelyn is known for her feisty attitude, great sense of humor and generous heart.  Her wide distribution of caramel corn and Chex mix was a hallmark activity.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her husband Glenn, her parents Tillie and Thorrol Roll, her brothers Roy and Ron, and sister Ona. She is survived by her brother Jim (Martha), daughter Brenda, son Kevin (Jamesa), grandchildren Sophie and Cooper, great-granddaughter Paisley and granddog Charlie, as well as many adoring cousins, nieces and nephews.

Her family would like to acknowledge Dr.'s Jason Hogge, Michal Whiton, Bruce Mathey, and the compassionate staff at the Skagit Cancer Care Center. Thank you for treating her like she was a member of your own family.  Additional thanks to caregiver Mahara and Hospice of the Northwest who touched our lives at the very end.

A celebration of life open house will be held on February 11 at 1:30pm at Seafarers' Memorial Park Building.  In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to Anacortes Cancer Walk.  To share memories of Evelyn please visit www.evanschapel.com .
