Our Dad, George E. Park,97, formally of Bremerton and now of Guemes Island, passed away on September 16, 2021.

He was born on March 27, 1924, in New Bedford, MA to Albert and Louise Park of Salisbury Street. Their family continued to grow, and George gained a younger sister and brother: Irene and Donald. As a youth he worked as a bait boy for the lobster man, Harry Turner of Penikese Island, and spent hours sailing Frenchman's Bay. Later on, he worked as a cable splicer for Palmer Scott Boatworks of N.B. before he was drafted into the Navy at 19 years old. He served aboard the USS Bunker Hill in the Pacific theater as Quarter Master and Ship's Navigator in WWII.

After the war and with honorable discharge, he returned to New Bedford and married Muriel K. Greene of Bristol, CT. She was a nursing friend of his late sister, Irene. In 1948, George and Muriel moved out to the Pacific Northwest where he took a pipe fitter's apprenticeship at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. On the bay of Shorewood Drive in Bremerton they raised their three children: Carol, Susan, and Russell.

George and Muriel enjoyed family west coast adventures…salmon fishing at La Push, razor clam digging at Kalaloch, and yearly hiking/camping trips to the Pacific beaches. George was gifted with musical talent and sang with the barbershop quartet called The Bremertones. One year they took 4 ^th place in the Regional Competition in Forest Grove, OR. He was also a long-standing member of the Washington Old Time Fiddlers Association in District 4 of Mt. Vernon and District 5 of Bremerton.

George was proceeded in death by his wife of 60 years, Muriel Greene (2008); sister Irene (1986). He is survived by brother Donald Park [Carla] of New Bedford, MA; three children Carol Park and Susan Gwost [Mike] of Guemes Island, WA, Russell Park [Linda] of Bremerton, WA; several nieces, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

A graveside service with military honors will be held October 16 ^th at 10am at Edens (Guemes Island) Cemetery with a memorial celebration to follow at the Bayview Civic Center at 2:30pm.
