Gloria Anne Ault, 86, of Mount Vernon, passed away after a life defined by creativity, independence, and deep devotion to her family, on Saturday, December 13, 2025. She, born January 14, 1939, in St. Boniface, Manitoba, Canada, the daughter of William and Georgina (Dorman) Burton.

In 1958, Gloria married and moved to the United States, beginning a lifetime of travel and adventure. She lived in California, Northern Idaho, the Pacific Northwest, Mérida, Mexico, and Tucson, Arizona. Though she had a restless and wandering spirit, she always remained close to her children, who were the center of her world. Family was her constant destination, no matter where her travels led.

Gloria was talented in countless artistic mediums, including painting, stained glass, woodburning, tie‑dye, and woodworking. She was also an exceptional gardener, known for her colorful flowers and her love of getting her hands in the soil. Later in life, she kept a garden cart in her room so she could continue tending plants, even growing her own lemon tree.

In her late 40s, Gloria attended Bellingham Beauty School and opened her own salon, "Just Glo", built onto her home. She worked as a teacher's aide and classroom assistant at a private Christian school to help provide tuition for her youngest daughter—one of many examples of her devotion as a mother.

Gloria formed lifelong friendships during the years she lived in Mérida, Mexico, and embraced every chapter of her life with energy and style. In her 70s, she was often seen driving with the top down in her red Mazda Miata, tattoos showing beneath her summer tops.

She loved animals, especially kittens and small dogs, and was endlessly entertained watching her daughters' cats play. Family gatherings brought her great joy, and being surrounded by her loved ones was her happiest place.

Gloria was surprisingly tech‑savvy and enjoyed using her tablet, Bluetooth headphones, streaming shows, and shopping online. She also had a fondness for simple treats such as Pop‑Tarts, Werther's candies, chocolate, and McDonald's chicken nuggets.

Gloria will be remembered for her creativity, her adventurous spirit, and the love she poured into her children and their families. Her life was full, colorful, and uniquely her own, leaving behind a legacy that cannot be captured on a single page.

She is survived by her son Kelly Cason, daughters, Aprile McDonald, Tracey Flesher, and Mindy Schuehle. Gloria is also survived by her grandchildren, Griffin, Hudson, Desmond, Carmella, Jake, and Conner.  She is also survived by her brother, Lyle Christensen.
