Gloria Ann Donovan, beloved mother and grandmother, died on September 10, 2022, at her home at Chandler's Square in Anacortes, WA. Born October 10, 1946 in Lewiston, ME, she was the ninth child of Herbert Carl and Denise Marie Hecker (nee Thibodeau). She is preceded in death by her parents, her sisters: Mona Louise, Rose Marie Hecker Hinkle; brothers: Herbert Carl, Jr., Gerard Paul Joseph, Francis John Joseph, Michael Dominic, and Joseph Patrick Hecker. She is survived by her children: Kelly (Brooks Middleton), Colleen, and William R. (Celestine) Donovan, Jr.; grandchildren: Colin (Brynne) Middleton, Erin Middleton, and Owen Donovan; as well as a multitude of nieces and nephews. She is also survived by two brothers: Ronald Joseph (Marilyn), and Anthony Damas (Luzuiminda Torres) Hecker.

Gloria attended St. Joe's parochial school in Lewiston, Maine and then went on to graduate in 1964 from Edward Little High School. She attended Bliss College and then worked at Patrons Oxford Mutual Insurance Company for a number of years. She worked at Concord Group Insurance Company for the remainder of her professional career and attended night school to become a Claims Adjuster.

She married William R. Donovan on July 1, 1967 and they were married for 18 years. Gloria remained close to the Donovan family and had affection for her in-laws. Gloria lived most of her married and professional life in Lisbon and Lisbon Falls, Maine. After leaving Concord Group, she moved to Tarpon Springs, Florida, where she lived for much of the remainder of her life. Gloria will be remembered for her independent and caring spirit as well as her optimism and determination. She was a woman of many talents and enjoyed jewelry making, painting, and writing. She volunteered in literacy programs and was active with local multiple sclerosis support groups.

Gloria loved and surrounded herself with beautiful things. She loved the beach and the ocean brought her much joy. She also made many life-long friends. She loved to get "all gussied up" and go to lunch with the girls. She had an infectious laugh and a vibrant personality. She will be greatly missed and also remembered for her courage and fortitude.

A service will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society .  The family would like to thank the staff at Chandler's Square, Island Hospital, and Hospice of the Northwest, as well as Gloria's private caregivers.
