Jim was the youngest child of seven born to William Gregory Moore and Lillian Kleeberger Moore. He grew up on a farm outside of Prosser, WA milking cows, riding the farm mules, even cutting asparagus in the morning before school.

The family moved to town when he was twelve where he spent his teenage years, graduating from Prosser High School in 1952. Jim served in the army in Japan and then attended Idaho State College and the University of Washington.

In 1957, he married Marlene Peterson, a Seattle girl, and they had two daughters. Jim worked for Darigold in Seattle for 36 years. The family lived in Lake Forest Park, WA until retirement, then moved to Anacortes, WA.

Jim had a dry, witty sense of humor, always ready with a quick comeback. He was a man on the go, yet he loved to sit quietly and carve. His woodcarvings are now treasured family pieces. He and Marlene enjoyed traveling, visiting their Norwegian friends, the UK, much of Europe, even Russia and China.

After living with dementia and lymphoma for years, he left us at age 92. Our thanks to Hospice for helping us make his final journey comfortable and peaceful.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Kay and Eileen, and three brothers, Francis, Jerry and Reg. He is survived by his wife Marlene, daughters Laura Moore and Regan Gust (Carl), granddaughter Caitlin Gust (Colton McCoy), great grandsons Connor Hennessey and Walter McCoy and brother Keith.

Memorial gifts may be made to Skagit Land Trust, PO Box 1017, Mount Vernon, WA 98273.
