Jane Ellen Brenner Knorr went to heaven peacefully on Thursday, January 11, 2024, in Tualatin, Oregon, with her son, Bob, holding her hand. She was born on  November 24, 1941, in Saint Clair, Michigan, to Richard and Dorothy (Gregory) Brenner. She was the older sister to Nancy, Richard, and Thomas. Jane had a joyful childhood in Saint Clair, playing with her neighborhood friends and chasing fireflies, caring for her black Cocker Spaniel "Brick",reading, and writing stories and poetry and later playing piano and singing in choir. Jane enjoyed many summers at church and girl scout camps, and vacationing with family along Lake Huron. She graduated from St. Clair High School in 1959 where she was noted as being "a busy person in a quiet way". She wrote for the school newspaper, participated in Latin club, played parts in both her Junior and Senior Play and was active in her church youth group, Student Council, intramural basketball, and Junior Red Cross.

After high school Jane pursued her dream of becoming a nurse at the Henry Ford Hospital School of Nursing in Detroit, Michigan, where she received her diploma as a Registered Nurse in 1962. There she also met and later fell in love with one of her hospital patients, Edward Knorr. After a short courtship they married in 1963 and moved to Lake Charnwood, where they started their family. They welcomed their first child, Robert (Bob) in 1964 and their second child, Elizabeth (Beth) in 1966. Jane was a devoted and loving mother who always put her children first. She was extremely loving and caring. She was a wonderful homemaker who created a warm and welcoming atmosphere for her family and guests. She was known for her delicious baking,especially her pecan and rhubarb pies.

The family relocated to the scenic mountains of Colorado, settling in Longmont for a time, where they had their third child, Gregory (Greg) in 1968. They later moved to Steamboat Springs where they lived in a beautiful home nestled amidst the aspen trees atop a mountain range with a  stunning view of the snowcapped peaks and the valley below. Jane adapted to the mountain lifestyle and learned how to drive their K5 Blazer with a snowplow out in front to clear the way for her kids to get to and from the school bus on time. She enjoyed volunteering at her children's schools and attending their many musical, sporting, academic and camp-related events. She also created opportunities and encouraged fun activities for her children skiing, sledding, camping, fishing, hiking, swimming and pursuits in music and art. Jane was a faithful Christian who prayed regularly and loved singing in her church choir at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Steamboat.

In 1978 Jane and her family embarked on more adventures, moving to Anacortes, Washington  – another beautiful place to live! There, her children completed their primary and high school education and started their own lives. With the children off to college, Jane decided to go back to work and again pursue her passion for nursing.

Jane was a dedicated and compassionate nurse who always looked after her patients' well-being while working in many capacities throughout her career, on the hospital floor, or specializing in emergency, surgery, cardiac, neonatal and pediatrics, or infectious control. She initially went back to work at hospitals and clinics near Mt. Vernon and later at the University of Washington Surgical Specialties Center in Seattle where she assisted surgeons and surgical teams, performing critical outpatient surgeries.  She may have been small, but she was mighty in spirit and kept the doctors on their toes, making sure they followed proper procedure. Upon her retirement several doctors praised her for her expertise, professionalism, and kindness.

After retiring, she moved to Silverton, Oregon, near her son Bob, where she became an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and participated in making beautiful prayer shawls for her friends and family that are still cherished today. Jane later moved to a retirement community in Sublimity, Oregon and then to Tualatin, Oregon in 2021.

Jane's faith in God was a constant source of strength and comfort for her throughout her life. She was not afraid of death and knew that she would soon be home with Jesus and her family in heaven.

Jane is survived by her sister Nancy Kelley, brothers Richard Brenner (and wife Kathy) and Thomas Brenner (and wife Jayne); children Bob Knorr (and wife Kelley), Beth Knorr and Greg Knorr; grandchildren Andrew (and wife Selah) Knorr, Josh Knorr, Samuel Knorr, Hannah Knorr, and Sarah Knorr; step-grandchildren Madeleine Herrera (and husband Stephen) and Duncan Brewster; great-grandchildren Jethro and Raphael Herrera; and ex-husband Edward Knorr (and wife Barbara). A private graveside service will take place in Anacortes, Washington on February 16th.
