Janice passed away on July 11, 2026, at Providence Hospital-Everett with her husband, Terry of 52 years by her side; "a great run indeed!" She is also survived by her daughter, Melynda and her beloved grandchildren: Daniel, Jessica, Matthew and Michael and her pride joy, 10 great grandchildren: Evan, Asher, Declan, Bryden, Lachlan, Nolan, Sammy, Liam, Uriah and finally her wish, a girl, Amaya. She was proud and loved them ALL with a special, yet different bond with each of them, like speaking with Jessica every Tuesday honoring the close relationship she shared with her own mother, Grace.

Her initial calling was a Nurse, when she took her training at Northwestern University, but decided to pivot when reality set in being assigned to the Children's burn ward. She spent two years at the University of Texas, where she studied Accounting. She was offered a Vice President-Treasurer position at a national insurance company in San Diego, but relinquished that opportunity for Terry's career, when he was promoted and they moved to Northern California. She then progressed through several positions: Credit Manager for Equifax, Loan Officer for Home Savings and finally settling as a Real Estate Agent for Coldwell Banker, where she received national recognition. With her selling skills refined and polished, she convinced Terry to give up his career and sell their ocean front home in Bodega Bay, CA to buy a 40' motor home and a towable jeep to go full time on the road for 6 years. When Terry went back to work, she would often say, "My husband flunked retirement!"

Janice was beautiful, smart, genuine, generous and direct. There was never a question of where she stood. She had class, elegance and style with a propensity for bling and glitz, never able to conform to 'West Coast Grunge.' Many of her friends at the Fidalgo Yacht Club or Anacortes Newcomers+ were often curious what themed apparel she might wear, especially her hats. She supported many charities: Children's Hospital, Island Hospital Foundation, St. Jude's, Simple Gestures, Salvation Army, WAZZU and many others. She was an excellent cook, often saying, "I'm a little Czech girl cooking Italian." Janice enjoyed ocean fishing, especially on the California Coast at Ft. Bragg, Trinidad and her home waters of Bodega Bay, which she often described as "Fishing Heaven." She was a skilled quilter, making one for her grandkids and until recently most of her great grandkids. She loved the holidays, sending Valentine's to all her friends and relatives, dressing up for the 4th of July Parade in Anacortes, making her famous stuffed pumpkin at Halloween, patiently listening to Terry's expletives, while decorating the tree, while meticulously wrapping gifts for all to receive. Besides RVing, she enjoyed traveling, her favorite cruise, the Christmas markets along the Danube River.

Her heart and life were fulfilled by what she called "the-warm-the-cockles-of-your-heart-dog," the Scottish Terrier, owning and loving 5 Scotties over 50 years: Misty, Toby, Cricket, Sherman and Sassy.
