Jean Ann Houston was born on December 5, 1952, in Oshkosh, Wisconsin to parents Ralph & Carol Daluge. She was surrounded with so much love from her "babies", family, & friends before moving on to Heaven on January 16, 2023, after a brief, yet valiant fight with ANKL.  She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, aunts, & uncles.  Jean is survived by her loving husband of 25 years, Robert B Houston; children: Melinda Klier-Ogle (Bryan), Katie (Chad Baransky), Derek (Alyssa) Klier; stepchildren: Bob, Buster (Julie), Rusty (Lisa), Dustin, & Amy Jo Houston.  She is also survived by her sister Suzie (Bob Miles ) as well as nieces, a nephew, step-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, & cousins. Jean also leaves behind a countless number of lifelong friends she loved dearly.

Jean grew up in Anacortes, WA & enlisted in the United States Air Force after graduating from Anacortes High School in 1971.  Jean obtained her training as a pharmacy technician at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas & was honorably discharged in August 1974, just a couple months before entering the most important & rewarding job of her life as a mom. Jean settled back into Anacortes, WA around 1985 and raised her 3 babies in the same beautiful hometown she grew up in.

Jean was incredibly talented with a natural ear for music, a powerful voice, & an artistic flare that flowed flawlessly from her heart and mind through her hands.  Jean had a passion for music.  She loved jamming, recording & performing with friends.  She also had a creative nature in being able to take a vision and draw, color, or paint it into reality.  Jean volunteered her time and talents to help brighten the windows, halls, and rooms of patients and various local businesses.  Her servant heart brought a smile to many who were touched by her gestures no matter how big or small.

Jean also had a big heart for animals and all her babies & grandbabies with fur and feathers.  The Rainbow Bridge had to be vibrant with color as she made her way Home to Heaven.

Jean also loved to entertain.  She loved theme parties, costumes, cooking, & baking and enjoyed sharing those talents as well with friends and co-workers.  Some of Jean's dearest friendships and relationships were built as a hospital employee and were an integral part of the love & care she received in her last days.

Jean was looking forward to celebrating her 70 ^th birthday in an incredible Queen of Hearts costume, but she was admitted to the University of Washington just 3 days before it and diagnosed 6 days after it.  Jean was able to return home to share Christmas and her 25 ^th wedding anniversary with her beloved, "Bobber".  She bravely chose quality over quantity, yet still fought with all her might with her loved ones by her side.

Jean was one of a kind.  She was strong-willed, funny, talented, kind-hearted, generous, & fiercely loved her kids as a Mama Bear does.  "I'm not going away . . . I'm going to watch over my babies". ❤

Jean will be greatly missed but will always be with us whether it be a feather in the wind, in a list, a song, a laugh, a glass of wine, a recipe, or a treasured memory.

Melinda, Katie, & Derek would like to extend so much gratitude for the incredible friendship, support, and care of our Mom's "nurse friends".  We may not have had the extra time or quality of time without them.
