Gordon Goss, 81, of Anacortes, passed peacefully at his residence, surrounded by his loving family and caregivers on November 1, 2017 after a heroic battle with lung cancer. He was born in 1936 to W. Marvin and Ellen (Nelson) Goss in Seattle, Washington.

Gordon, as he preferred to be known by, worked throughout his teens in various jobs and at Malmo's Nursery in Seattle. He joined the Army in the 1960's, serving as a show farrier for historical cavalry stables in Ft. Bragg, North Carolina.

Gordy was a mason and a respected farrier in the Monroe/Redmond area in Washington as well as the Southwest and California. He was an original member of the FAWS (Farrier Association of Washington State) that formed the farrier's union. He served FAWS as president, offered shoe making tutorials and designed a kit for farrier tools. Gordy advised veterinarians on horse injuries and problems. He loved the outdoors, bird hunting, family and family get-togethers. He was always ready to help others.

Gordon is predeceased by his parents and his wife. He survived by his daughter and son-in-law: Debbie and Scott Johnson; his step-son and daughter-in-law: Jay & Connie Goss; grandchildren: John & Jesse Johnson, Steven & Sarah Goss; great grandson: Zane Johnson; his sister: Andrea Arrowsmith; nieces, nephews and cousins.
