John Francis Griffith passed away February 17, 2023, at home in Bay View, at the age of 61, following a brief illness. John was born in Seattle on March 29, 1961, to George and Beverly (Waller) Griffith, the youngest of six children. John spent his youth shooting, fishing, and riding motorcycles with his father and brothers, and in his early twenties he raced motocross competitively. He graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1979, and soon followed his father into the radiography and inspection industry, spending 41 years working for Anvil Corporation, which later became Mistras Group.

John married Ruthie Krieger February 27, 1982, at Immaculate Conception Church in Mount Vernon. They made their home in Bow, then later in Bay View, where they raised six children. John loved boating, crabbing, and clam digging with his children and later with his grandchildren. He took an interest in anything that went fast, and enjoyed restoring his 1968 Mustang Fastback, 1967 Mercury Cougar, and his father's boat, a 1971 Searay. He was very proud of his family. It was a special joy for him when his many grandchildren came over to play, and they all adored their "Papa." John was grateful for the gift of his Catholic faith that was nurtured in him by his parents, and which he passed on to his children. He was a member of the Skagit Valley Outreach of St. John Chrysostom Byzantine Catholic Church.

John is survived by his wife Ruthie; son Michael Griffith of Edmonds; daughter Amanda Bartlett (Kyle) of Bay View, and their children: Ella, Lucas, Bevan, and Emmelia; son George Griffith (Stacey) of Burlington and their children: Magdalena, Julia, George, Hannah, Andrew, and Samuel; son John Griffith of Bay View, and his children: Mckenzie, Carly, and Tristan; daughter Danielle Harper (Levi) of Mount Vernon, and their children: Guinevere and Isaiah; daughter Ruthie Griffith (Tony Cavazos) of Mount Vernon and their child: Sofia; brother Peter Griffith (Susan) of Bay View; and brother James Griffith (Cathryn) of Burlington. He is preceded in death by his parents, and siblings Lawrence, Joseph, and Catherine Mary Griffith.

A viewing will be held on March 1 at 12:00 PM at St. Charles Church in Burlington, with recitation of the Rosary at 1:00, and Office of Christian Burial at 1:30. Committal will immediately follow at Bay View Cemetery.
