John Adair Orberg, 76, of Anacortes, died Saturday, November 26, 2005 at Skagit Valley Kidney Center in Mount Vernon, WA. He was born June 2, 1929 in Edmonds, Washington, the son of Adolf and Elpet (Twitchell) Orberg.

John attended Everett schools and graduated in 1947 from Everett High School. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict from 1950 – 1953. For most of his adult life, John was employed as an auto body and fender repairman and later became an auto insurance adjustor, working for Pemco Insurance Company. He retired from Pemco in 1988 and moved to Anacortes at that time.

John was a member of the Skagit Old Car Club and loved driving his 1939 Ford sedan. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Betty ; daughter, Carol Mettler of Silvana, WA; son, John Orberg of Shoreline, WA; grandchildren, Katherine Hicks of Norfolk, VA, Richard Olson of Poulsbo, WA, Nicole Rose Orberg of Seattle, WA; great-grandchildren, Bradley, Ryan, and Kasey Olson, and Breanne Hicks; brother and sister-in-law, Frederick and Jean Orberg of Camano Island, WA; brother-in-law, Donald Chase and his wife, Donna (Hecker); sister-in-law, Donna (Chase) and her husband, Wayne Haegele; and sister-in-law, Lynn (Chase) and her husband, Dick Bumgarner.

There are no services planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Island Hospital in Anacortes, WA.
