John Howard Van Every, 90, passed away on March 18, 2022. He was born on January 29, 1932 to Howard C. and Rhea M. (Miller) Van Every in Detroit, Michigan. He relocated to Marysville, Michigan with his mother Rhea and brother Master Sgt Richard A. Van Every (both deceased). He graduated from Marysville High School June of 1949. Soon after he met his wife, Dona, and they were married April 6, 1950.

He joined the US Navy upon graduating from Marysville High School and was trained as an ADR Reciprocating Engine Mechanic and chose ADJ Jet Engine Mechanic when the rate split. He accepted any school that was offered. He worked on a variety of aircraft both piston and jet. Over his career he was stationed at all of the following: Great Lakes, Memphis, Pax River, Agana Guam, Kingsville, and NAS Whidbey. After retirement, he worked on outboard engines and later opened his own engine repair shop at home.

John enjoyed time spent camping, square dancing, and round dancing. He and Dona also enjoyed rides on his whizzer bike, where he would ride on the tank and Dona would ride on the seat. Other things that made him smile were motorcycle trips, rain, and wind raising Dona's helmet. His other great love was time spent with his family, listed below.

John is predeceased by his parents, Howard and Rhea Van Every, and brother, Richard Van Every. He is survived by his wife Dona M. Van Every; sons Donald [Leonette] and Thomas [Edna] Van Every; daughter Robin [Tom] Foster, grandchildren Erin [Cedar] Brinkley, Laura Van Every, Jennifer Van Every-Hocking, Elizabeth [William] Jones, Allen [Dana] Van Every, and David Scott; great-grandchildren Ezekiel, Liam, Gabriel, and Jonah Hocking, Hannah Van Every, Londyn and Emalyn Brinkley, Brigham and Urijah Jones and Dakota Sasser.

The family is so grateful and couldn't ask for greater friends that were made over the years. Blessings to all.

A private family graveside service was held at Maple Leaf Cemetery in Oak Harbor, Washington on Saturday, March 26, 2022
