Joyce Allyn Murphy, 69, passed away on December 2, 2023, in Friday Harbor, Washington. Her birth date was Valentine's Day of 1954 in Longview, WA, and she was the second of four children born to Frank and Gloria (Rainey) Ames. Joyce spent her early years in Kelso Longview before eventually settling in Anacortes, WA.

Joyce dedicated over 20 years of her life to the WA State Ferries, where she worked diligently until her retirement. Her dedication and warm personality made her beloved by both her colleagues and friends alike. Joyce's contributions to her workplace were greatly appreciated, and she will be remembered fondly by all those who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Following her retirement, Joyce moved to Friday Harbor, where she found the love of her life, Albert. Together, they formed an inseparable bond, sharing countless joyful moments and creating beautiful memories. The time spent with Albert brought immeasurable happiness to Joyce's life.

Joyce was known for her quick wit and ever-present smile. Her sense of humor brightened the lives of those around her, and her laughter was contagious. She had a zest for life that was truly inspiring, and her vibrant spirit will be dearly missed.

Joyce was preceded in death by her loving parents, Frank and Gloria Ames.  She is survived by her siblings, Marty, Jeff, and Ann, as well as her life partner, Albert. She leaves a void in the hearts of her family and friends that can never be filled.
