Karleen Milam, 89 of Renton, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, March 27, 2021. She was born on March 12, 1932 in Iowa City, IA; the daughter of Francis and Frances (Hass) Milam.  She entered the U.S. Navy soon after High School graduation and was honorably discharged, receiving the National Defense service medal.

Karleen loved to travel, so she unwound from her military service by travelling all over the US before settling in Renton and taking up with Boeing Aerospace as an Electrician, a career which spanned for twenty years.  She retired in 1997.  Karleen never married.

Karleen had a passion for animals of any kind. Once she spotted an injured crow that somehow got trapped in her tree and she would not rest until her calls to the Fire Department were answered and they finally came out to rescue the injured bird for her.  She then took the bird to the wild animal hospital in Marysville for further care.

Graveside Service with Military Honors will be held at the Riverton Crest Cemetery, Tukwila, WA.  Karleen was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her beloved nieces: Pamela A. Miller and Donna L. Gerdes.
