Katherine E. Conquest, lovingly known as Kathy, was born on November 25, 1942, in Oakland, California, to Glenn and Esther Johnck.

Kathy graduated from Klamath Union High School in Klamath Falls, Oregon, in 1960. She began her college studies at the University of Oregon before transferring to Skagit Valley College in Mount Vernon, Washington.

In 1961, during a visit to Anacortes, Washington, Kathy met the love of her life, Jim Conquest. The two were married in Seattle in April 1963, beginning a devoted marriage that spanned more than six decades. Together, they raised their two children, Joanne and Paul, and later welcomed the joy of grandchildren—Jarrid, Levi, and Martina. Kathy was especially grateful to have met her three great‑grandchildren, a blessing she cherished deeply.

While living in Seattle, Kathy worked as a professional secretary for several organizations, including Boeing, ADT, and the University of Washington Hospital. Her professionalism, warmth, and steady presence made her a valued colleague everywhere she served.

Faith was a cornerstone of Kathy's life. She was dedicated to her church community and actively involved in her children's education and church activities. She volunteered with Hospice of Clark County and later with My Choices Crisis Pregnancy Center in Sequim, offering compassion and support to those in need. Kathy also faithfully attended and hosted Women's Bible Study Fellowship for many years, nurturing both her own spiritual growth and that of others.

Kathy's creativity and love for family shone through in the many photo albums she lovingly assembled, the greeting cards she crafted, and the countless projects she enjoyed doing with Joanne. She was an avid reader and an enthusiastic traveler. Some of her happiest adventures were the driving trips she and Jim took to Alaska to spend summers with Joanne, Rick, and their grandchildren. She also loved exploring with their trailer—visiting South Dakota, Mexico, and spending winters in Tucson, Arizona. Kathy delighted in discovering centuries‑old missions, churches, and Mayan ruins she had read about, bringing history to life through her travels.

A talented seamstress, Kathy found joy in sewing clothing, decorative items, and special gifts. She especially loved making baby crib bumpers, blankets, and garments for family and friends—each piece crafted with care and affection.

Kathy passed away after just over four months in assisted living in Vancouver, Washington, at the age of 83. She is survived by her beloved husband, Jim; daughter Joanne (Rick); son Paul (Mayee); three grandchildren; and three great‑grandchildren. She is also lovingly remembered by her sisters, Mary Ellen and Rosemary, along with several nieces and nephews.

She was laid to rest in a private service at Fernhill Cemetery in Anacortes.  Her Memorial Service is being planned.
