Larry Alan Dettmann, age 87, passed away February 07, 2022, in Anacortes, Washington. He was born on December 21, 1934, in New Salem, North Dakota to Clarence and Verna Dettmann. Clarence and Verna later moved the family to Harlowton, Montana where they continued to live throughout their lives. Larry graduated High School in Harlowton then went on to graduate from Montana State University.

Shortly out of college he was hired by Texaco. His first job with Texaco was at an oil refinery located in Casper, Wyoming as a Chemical Engineer. In 1957 he was transferred to another oil refinery located in Lawrenceville, Illinois. Here he met and married a local gal named Dixie Gene Ike.

Throughout his career with Texaco Larry and family lived in several states/cities but permanently landed in the beautiful northwest town of Anacortes, Washington in 1972. Larry retired in December 1995. High on the retirement list was golf, golf and more golfing! Of course that came after he finished his morning cup of coffee and the New York Times Crossword. He also threw in a little traveling at his wife's request. Larry had many hobbies and interests. If you wanted to try something new, just take Larry along. He was game to try anything once. Downhill skiing, panning for gold, sailing, card games, flying kites, bowling, dancing, music, playing guitar, shooting pool and riding his motorcycle just to name a few.

Preceding Larry in death were his parents Clarence and Verna (McCormick) Dettmann, his wife Dixie Gene (Ike) Dettmann and his brother Alan William Dettmann. Larry is survived by his daughter Carole, son in-law Darrin, brother Jim (James), sister Linda, nieces and nephews and a giant group of friends.
