Linda Marie Evans was born on June 22, 1941, in Petaluma, California. She passed at her home surrounded by family and friends on October 18, 2022, in Anacortes, Washington.  Linda was one of three children born to William Evans and Evelynn Jacobsen. She is survived by her brother Mike Evans (her older brother Bob Evans predeceased her), her 6 children Denise Frazier, Nicole Sanchez, Heidi Sanford, Shawn Harland, Garth Sanford, and Lindsey Sanford-McGurk, her 8 grandchildren Kristin Frazier, Lauren Frazier, Nia Sanchez-Booko, David Sanchez, Cameron Harland, Lukas Harland, Jonathan Sanford, and Jacob Sanford, and her great grandson Asher Booko.   

   Some interesting highlights of Linda's early life are that She was a roller-skating majorette, enjoyed being with her older brother in the Petaluma Pacers Car Club for drag car building and racing, and participated in the Petaluma Masonic Temple's International Order of Rainbow Girls.   

   Linda met and married Doctor Theodore Douglas Sanford OB, MD, in 1962. They lived their early married years and began their family in Stockton, CA. They travelled to Iran and Germany while Ted completed his military service. Upon Ted's discharge they moved to Montana then to Eureka, CA where they settled down to raise their children with an appreciation for healthy living and a love for nature.   

   Following her divorce in 1979, Linda owned and ran a small women's sportswear store in Eureka, California. She later moved to Petaluma then Sacramento to work for Nordstrom as a department manager. During her time in Sacramento Linda had her first forays into selling real estate. In 1990 Linda relocated to Kirkland, Washington where she worked for the Seattle Seahawks as an administrative assistant for a couple of years before making a transition to working full time in real estate.   

   In 2003 Linda moved to Anacortes, Washington where she melded her passion for healthy living with selling real estate. She tirelessly educated herself, home buyers and contractors about sustainable green building options, and environmental awareness issues for new and existing homes.   

   Linda was a pillar of the community - showing her devotion through participation in many community organizations such as the Sedro Wooley Food Bank and Skagit Fisheries Enhancement (SFEG). As a member of SFEG, she participated in habitat restoration, volunteered with Outreach and Education for schools in the community, and helped behind the scenes at the annual SFEG Membership Meeting / Salmon Dinners, the Bald Eagle Festival, and was a docent at the tide pools for community education.   

   Linda was a regular member of the Anacortes Farmers Market community where she shared her passion for supporting local, sustainable, and environmentally friendly practices. She spent many hours volunteering at the Market providing invaluable contributions through both networking and direct involvement.

3.     The Skagit Fisheries Enhancement Group  for enhancing our watersheds.   

   Linda walked what she taught and believed in. She could often be seen walking the beach, hiking the trails, or riding the paths around Anacortes.   

   Pick up a rock, or pick up a seashell, and look to the horizon to remember Linda Sanford. She will be dearly missed.
