Lois Rose Johnson, 87, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2021 in Anacortes, WA.  She was born on January 26, 1933 in St. Louis, MO; the daughter of Albert and Rose (Brunkhorst) Schlessinger.  She was the youngest of 6 siblings.

Lois attended Rocky Ford High School in CO, where she graduated in 1951. She worked for Weld County School District 6 and for the University of Northern Colorado in Educational Material Services, where she later retired.  She was an active member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and an Honorary Resident Ambassador at Lighthouse Memory Care in Anacortes, WA.

Lois never knew a stranger.  She loved drawing, star gazing, feeding the birds and squirrels, and had a knack for finding four leaf clovers.

Lois is survived by her children, Laura (Steven) Fitzgerald of Turlock, CA, Steven (Berta) Johnson of Caracas, Venezuela, Lisa (Stephen) Adamson of Arvada, CO, and Scott (Diana) Johnson of Anacortes, WA; 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Rose Schlessinger and siblings Charles, Alverna (Vernie Saulmon), Harvey, Melba, and Jane.

Lois spent all but 20 years in Colorado; living her last 8 years in Washington.  The family would like to thank the caregivers at Lighthouse Memory Care, who provided so much care, support and compassion during her last years.

Suggested donations may be made, in Lois' name, to the Hospice of the Northwest Foundation .  Lois will be laid to rest in Rocky Ford, CO.
