Lorene
Pevoto
Feb 16, 1929 — Jan 27, 2021
Anacortes
Lorene passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 27, 2021, in Anacortes.
Lorene was born in Mount Vernon on February 16, 1929 to Fred and Marie Silvernail, of Milltown. In 1932 her family moved to Mabton, WA, where her parents operated a turkey farm. When Lorene was 11 years old the family, which now included three daughters, moved back to Western Washington and settled in Anacortes.
Lorene was an excellent student. While attending Anacortes High School, the local Employment Security Department office chose her to work as a clerk-stenographer after school. After graduating in 1947, she immediately had a full time job at the department. Later in life, her employer paid for her to earn a degree at Skagit Valley College and she was promoted to an interviewer. She remained with the department until her retirement in 1982.
Lorene married Maurice Lloyd in 1948. They had 3 children, Michael, Kathi and Deanna. Their marriage ended in divorce in 1970.
In 1990 Lorene married Floyd Pevoto, a Pearl Harbor Survivor. During most of their time together, they lived aboard Floyd's boat at Skyline Marina. Sadly, Floyd passed away from cancer in a few short years.
In 1994, at a Pearl Harbor Survivors Association function, Lorene met Tony Nady. Tony and Lorene lived a very active life together. They traveled throughout the US, visiting friends, relatives and attending various Pearl Harbor reunions and events. They were Yuma, AZ snowbirds every year and had many friends, both at home and their winter getaway. They stayed together until his death in 2013, at age 94.
Lorene led a very active life. During her working years, she was a Girl Scout leader and a Children's Orthopedic Hospital guild member. Later in life she was a member of the Ladies Oriental Shrine, volunteered at the Soroptimist Thrift Shop, attended and volunteered at many Pearl Harbor Survivors Association meetings and functions and was a member of New Hope Christian Fellowship church. She also hosted and attended many social functions and happy hours with her large group of friends in both Anacortes and Yuma.
She is survived by her children Mike Lloyd and his wife Sheila of Anacortes, Kathi Ray and her husband Rick of Mount Vernon, and Deanna Lindholm and her husband Rick of Mount Vernon; her grandchildren Casey Lloyd (Melissa Gilbert), Ryleigh Lloyd, Justin Ray, Rachel Couey (Jeff), Tara Hoverson (Renee Sautté), Lindsey Waters (Jon) and Erika Lindholm (Bernie Morris). She also leaves behind 7 great-grandchildren.
Lorene was preceded in death by her husband Floyd, her companion Tony, and her sisters Georgia Fischer and Rosemarie Hooser.
We would like to thank Rosario Assisted Living for their loving care of Lorene during the past 3½ years.
