Marguerite (Punkie) Daniels

Punkie passed away February 24, 2024 at Ashley Gardens in Mount Vernon, WA from a long battle with dementia at the age of 86.

Marguerite was born in Wallace, Idaho on December 15, 1937 to Charles and Pearle Virtue. Marguerite's family moved to Anacortes in 1953. Marguerite graduated from Anacortes high school in 1956.  After graduation she married Dick Harvey.  Dick and Punkie were married 23 years and raised three sons Rick, Nick and Randy in Anacortes.

Marguerite worked as a checker and meat wrapper in Anacortes for 25 years. She was a member of Beta Sigma Phi, meat cutters union, and attended New Hope Christian Fellowship Church.

Marguerite married Don Daniels November 3, 1985 and moved to Olympia Washington. Marguerite volunteered at Saint Peter's hospital while refurbishing their home in Olympia. Don and Marguerite enjoyed life to the fullest. They traveled all of the world and loved entertaining in their home with family and friends.  Don and Marguerite moved back to their hometown of Anacortes in 1996. Margaret enjoyed cooking, entertaining, traveling and watching sports. She especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren play in their sporting events. She was their biggest fan and hardly ever missed a game. Many times you would find her all bundled up at the Daniels field rooting on the Anacortes Seahawks. The Daniels continue to be contributors to the Alton R. Daniels field, the Marguerite and Don Daniels field and Volunteer field. Don and Marguerite believe that every young man and woman should have as many opportunities as possible in life to help them succeed. They wanted to create a solid foundation for local youth and the community to be proud of.

Marguerite was proceeded in death by her parents, son Randy Harvey in 1983, husband Don Daniels in 2004, brother Pat McGrath and sister Kathy Hurst.

Marguerite is survived by son Rick (Susie) Harvey of Anacortes, son Nick Harvey of Bellingham, grandchildren Randi Harvey, Korisa West, Steven (Kayla) Chenoweth and many great grandchildren.

We would like to thank Ashley Gardens staff for taking such good care of mom for 10 years while she was battling dementia. We would also like to thank hospice for helping her through her final days. At the request of family there will be no service.
