Marjorie (Marge) Jeanne Sargent left her earthly roots on January 23, 2024, at the age of 98 to join those who preceded her.

Marge was born in Spokane, WA on November 6,1925; the second of three children to John and Lexi McHugo. She was raised in Spokane with many aunts and uncles in the Deer Park area. She graduated from North Central High School and then attended WSU obtaining a degree in Home Economics. It was at WSU she met her life partner, John Sargent.

John and Marge initially lived in Buckley where they taught school and where their two daughters Colleen and Shirley were born. In 1959 they moved to Mt Vernon where John was a County Agent and Marge was a substitute teacher and raised their family. In 1963 son Richard was born. Later that year they moved to Othello where Marge taught Jr High Home Economics; and John had a successful irrigation business.

In 1986 they retired and decided to return to the Skagit Valley and build a home on property they had in Anacortes. During this time John was injured and Marge got introduced to Island Hospital. Marge became a dedicated volunteer and was honored for over 10,000 hours of service. Marge lived at Chandler's Square since 2015, where she had many friends.

Marge was preceded in death by her husband John in 2015. She is survived by her children Colleen Sargent, Anacortes; Shirley (Dennis) Brooks, Pasco; Richard (Nancy) Sargent, Richland as well as grandchildren Heather, Jenni, Nick, Nathan; great grandchildren Mikaela, Easton, Ava, Chaz, Presley and Landon as well as great great grandson Rhett.

A private celebration of life will be planned later in the year.
