Mary Doris Boczar was born February 1, 1933, in McKeesport, PA a small steel mill town. She lived there for 10 years with her three older brothers and younger sister when her mother took her and her sister Charlene to live in San Francisco and then on to Yakima WA.

Mary graduated from Yakima High School and married Jim Lagoe in 1950, as Jim was graduating from Perry Trade School. Jim and Mary then move to Laguna Beach, CA, close to Jim's parents, where Jim opened an automotive garage and gas station. After a couple years running the garage Jim enlisted in the Airforce where they spent time in Texas and Mississippi.

After the Airforce, Mary and Jim moved back to the Bay Area while Jim got his Engineering degree from Stanford University. Then after a few years living and working in Sana Anna, CA their sons Joe and Tim were born.  They then decided to move back to the Pacific Northwest and built a home in Woodinville, WA.

Shortly after moving to Woodinville, their daughter Becky was born.  The next 10 years in Woodinville was filled with school, raising animals, growing vegetable gardens, horse riding and camping trips.

In 1976, Mary and Jim decided to move to Richmond Beach, where they built another home, closer to work for Jim and closer to school for Tim and Becky. As her family grew older Mary had time to pursue a number of interests including getting her beauticians license, real estate license and working several years for World Concern. After High School graduations and finally, Jim's retirement, Mary and Jim moved to Anacortes, where they built their final home.

Mary and Jim enjoyed many hobbies before and after moving to Anacortes, including sailing, power boating and flying private airplanes. Mary took up painting in the early days living in Woodinville, brought many others into the hobby and painted consistently through the end of her life. Mary and Jim traveled all over the country and all over the world making lifelong friends along the way.

Jim passed away in 2005 and Mary remained in her Skyline home for another 16 years enjoying the views she loved so much and enjoying the great friendships she made around town, with her close friends, neighbors and the Anacortes Christian Church. She moved to Chandlers Square in 2021, making and enjoying many new friends and living closer to her church.
