Patricia Ann
Bozanich
Aug 26, 1927 — Feb 12, 2023
Tacoma
Patricia "Patty" Ann Bozanich, 95, passed away on February 12, 2023. She was born on August 26, 1927, in Portland Oregon, the daughter of Michael and Ida (Teeling) Ferschweiler. Patty's early years were spent in Portland. She attended Holy Redeemer Grade School and graduated from the Class of '45 from St. Mary's Academy in Portland and attended college at the Seattle University. She met Tony Louis Bozanich while they were attending Seattle U and the couple married on April 7, 1951. Four children were born to them, and Patty happily embraced life as wife, homemaker and mother. They made their first home in Seattle, later moving to Bellevue where they spent 64 years.
Since the mid-50s, they maintained their summer home on San Juan Island in order for the family to be close to the salmon fishing grounds as Tony was a lifelong commercial fisherman; this later became their primary residence. Tony and Patty enjoyed attending the Super Bowls and the spring training games in Arizona. Patty was a 65-year member of Association for Catholic Childhood (now called Advocacy and Caring for Children), a 105-year old charity of the Archdiocese of Seattle. In 1984 on her trip to Europe she had a general audience with the then Pope John Paul II, now Saint Pope John Paul II.
Patty was preceded in death by her parents, her infant older brother, Bernard, and her beloved husband of 65 years: Tony. She is survived by her children: Mark (Debbie), M ary Jo (Russell Bolte), Steve and Diane; 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
Remembrances in Patty's name may be made to the Advocacy and Caring for Children (formerly called Association for Catholic Childhood), 100 23rd Avenue S, Seattle, WA 98144-2302; or to the USO .
