Pat Redmond Wentworth, 76, of Anacortes, WA, died January 4,2023, after the long good-bye with Alzheimers.

Born Sept. 25, 1946, in St. Louis, MO, Pat was the eldest of 5 children born to Jim and Jane Redmond. Her family moved to Columbus, OH, when she was a toddler. She attended Holy Family and Our Lady of Victory high schools, and graduated from West High School. Throughout her youth, Pat was active in sports, particularly as a star swimmer for Hilltop Swim Club. As an adult, she became an avid golfer, a passion her son Todd inherited.

Pat earned her bachelor's degree from The Ohio State University and her Masters Degree from UCSF in San Francisco. She embarked on a lifelong career as an emergency nurse. She started her nursing career as a public health nurse in Columbus and taught at Mount Carmel Hospital School of Nursing. Pat worked at hospitals in the Dayton, OH, and Rockford, IL, areas before moving to the West Coast where she worked in numerous hospitals as Director of Emergency and Trauma.

She is a past president of the Emergency Nurses Association of California and the Emergency Nurses Association of Nevada. Pat won multiple nursing awards and recognitions, including special recognition for her outstanding leadership in emergency nursing by ENA, and for outstanding  service as chairperson of nursing mangers by ENA of Nevada.

During Pat's career on the West Coast, she worked at Eden Hospital in Castro Valley, CA; Vesper Hospital, in San Leandro, CA,and Stanford University Hospital.  She also served as Director of emergency room nursing for St. Joseph's Hospital in Bellingham, WA, where she was instrumental in the design of St Joseph's trauma unit. Pat returned to California as Director of Emergency at the Northbay Hospitals in Fairfield and Vacaville.

Pat is survived by her husband, Jim Wentworth of Anacortes WA; daughter Stephanie Fischer and son-in-law Jamie Norris of Treasure Island, FL; son Todd Fischer and daughter-in-law Amy Fischer of Pleasanton, CA; daughter Debbie Fischer of Highland Village, TX; grandchildren Derrick, Brandon, Kaylee, Jacob, Wyatt and Emerson.  She is also  survived by her sisters Kathy Walt of Austin, TX; Marge Redmond of Columbus, OH; and Betty Wilson of North Fort Myers, FL; her brother Michael Redmond of Oakland, CA; Pat is also survived by stepson Scott Wentworth from Orlando his wife and daughter Alexi; stepdaughter Cheryl Wentworth from Jacksonville FL her three daughters and two great granddaughters.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary Catholic Church in Anacortes at 5pm on January 24th, 2023.
