Paul Cassidy, beloved father and husband, passed away in the early morning hours of October 14th, 202, after a long battle with Parkinson's disease. Paul was a man of great intellectual curiosity and quick irreverent wit. He will be dearly missed.

Paul grew up in Bowling Green, KY with his mother Mildred, father Paul Sr. and brother Donald. From an early age, Paul was a gifted student who had a lifelong fascination with science, nature and space flight. He was a big fan of science fiction and loved going to see movies on the big screen.

Paul earned a PhD in microbiology from Vanderbilt University and worked in academic research and in the biotechnology, industry fighting infectious diseases.

His many interests led him to scuba diving in Okinawa, mountaineering in the French Alps, and completing several marathons including the Boston Marathon.

Paul was equally at home attending live opera performances and tilting back a cold IPA at his favorite local watering hole.

Paul is survived by Mary Ellen Coughlan, his wife of over 30 years, and his son Joshua Cassidy.

A memorial will be held at a later date
